Why the Tennessee Titans will need to add some help to the offensive line
The Tennessee Titans have the most offensive line depth in the NFL and the opportunity to add a solid pass-blocking presence on the roster as well.
However, they will likely need to improve on that depth in order to compete with other teams.
First, the Titans have a huge hole at right tackle, as they are currently set with Jake Matthews at left tackle.
Matthews has had some issues in the past, as his play has dropped off.
He has been out for the past two weeks due to injury, which is a major blow to the team’s depth.
The Titans will likely go with a guard or tackle at left guard in the upcoming NFL draft, but that leaves them with a right tackle.
The Tennessee coaches will likely look at this as an opportunity to re-sign a veteran to help in the future.
There is an interesting option that could be on the board, as the Los Angeles Rams have the option to pick up their fifth-year option on Justin Britt.
This is a huge opportunity for the Titans to make a play for the franchise quarterback, and it is a possibility that the team should consider.
If the Titans want to add more depth to the position, they could look to add an experienced veteran at left end.
Tennessee has some very solid offensive linemen on their roster.
Zach Fulton is a former first-round pick of the Washington Redskins, and Jake Matthews is one of the best pass-blockers in the league.
Fulton and Matthews both have experience at left and right tackle in the pros, and both are strong enough to be useful in their respective roles.
The other option would be former Tennessee tackle Andrew Whitworth, who is one the best interior blockers in the entire league.
He is a free agent and could be a good option if the Titans decide to go after a veteran pass-rusher.
Whitworth is a long-time defensive end, but he has been an inconsistent pass-rushing specialist in the Pro Football Focus rankings.
He would be a great addition to a roster that is struggling at the right tackle spot.
He can play both tackle positions, but his athleticism and ability to anchor the edge would make him a great fit in a 3-4 defensive scheme.
The team would be wise to add another veteran pass rusher to help their pass-rush this offseason.
